The Good Old Days

A friend of mine sent me a link to a site that talks
about the development of the original Macintosh.

The site is here: http://www.folklore.org/

There are interesting tidbits here about writing complex applications and user
interfaces under extreme constraints. But what I found interesting about the
site is that it's mostly the view point of one author (Hertzfeld) and while the
focus is on the Engineering team, if you look at the photo gallery, there is a
picture of the entire Mac team at the time of launch that is literally dozens of
people. What did they do? Surely in their own way they are just as important.
What are their thoughts?

Somewhere in all this nostalgia the point that is lost is that you shouldn't overestimate the
importance of a brilliant engineering team on the success or lack thereof of a
product. It's important to keep a sense of perspective on the whole team, not
just the hackers.
