I Don't Like CommentsPeople keep complaining that they can't comment on
this blog. This is by design, so get over it.
While this post probably breaks my meta-rule to not
post about meta issues relating to the management of the blog, I figured I'd get
it out of the way anyways.
As lame as the attitude is, I don't like blog comments. I don't think they add a lot to the discourse. I think 99% of the time, someone who decides to comment on the site has nothing interesting to say and not a lot of time to formulate the comment in a coherent and intelligent manner. So, comments just add to the noise in an already noisy world. I write web pages so that I can share content that attains some reasonable level of quality. I don't always achieve this level (like with this article, for example), but I generally don't put something up here until I've thought about it a bit and carefully written it down a few times, at least in my head. Therefore, I don't believe it is in my interest to mix the random thoughts of others into my more carefully considered prose. That said, commenting on other people's pages is fun. This makes me an elitist hypocrite, right? So be it. Anyway, this whole piece is just a long winded way of saying something I said better and more briefly on this page: http://kvdpsu.org/pgh-restaurants.html So read it there too.
